I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I remember having to watch this dude in High School my Senior year for my Financial Planning class. The teacher would just put him on and sit back and read a book. At the end of every video he would pull up a slick advertising ploy by telling you to buy his DVD boxset for $29.99 after telling you how to save money. :russ:

Nah fukk all that. That type of thinking is exactly why the middle class is dwindling. Typical 'Hard Work' mantra

Genuinely curious, what should be the alternative in this time?

Personally, I'd advise the same thing. If you can easily find work now, then do it to the ability you can (won't get sick, injured etc). Control what you can now, then worry about what you can't control later.

I think we all agree the current system needs tweaks and there can be better administration of UE benefits, but I could never advise my sibling to just sit at home collecting checks if they can easily find work. The longer you stay unemployed, the tougher it is to get back into the labor force.

Nah fukk all that. Take the government for all you can get out of em

These corps and wealthy people get all the free shyt and tax breaks in the world, but we have to always keep our work boots laced up and never accept anything free.

Who says to sit at home?

Immediately file unemployment and then job hunting right after is my advice

he's just saying find a job thats hiring and dont wait for the government , you guys dont need to swallow the whole message , you have to dissect what people are saying

people that work at amazon get paid every two weeks and most most of the time can get over time if its there , he's just saying theres money there to make

He went bankrupt about two years after amassing his "fortune". With that said, I understand his rational with the advice he gives. If were weren't in a pandemic, it would be solid advice, imo.

Nah, it wouldn't be solid advice. People are too conditioned to spinning wheels. They forget the purpose of working hard is to move forward

Gotcha. Idk how UE works but if they find out you've been employed it gets cutoff correct?

Say you're laid off the 1st and file for UE the 2nd and your benefits will kick in on the 15th. What if you find a job on the 17th? What would happen to your benefits?

The only downside to unemployment in this case is how slow the money is being disbursed in a lot of areas.

He could get the unemployment then do the amazon and pizza delivery once the $600 dries up if he hasn't landed anything yet.

Those gig economy jobs will still be there and then some once this is all over.

A lot of nikkas SWEAR by Dave Ramsey though. And let's be real, if this was say, five months ago, you all would agree with him because I saw the exact same advice given here before. Y'all used to love promoting those sorry ass, exploitative gig economy jobs.

Dave is wrong about this. However I don’t see a problem with these recommendations during normal economic times. The jobs suck, but they’re better than nothing.

And what valuable skills would he be learning that could be prepare him to move to something better? Dude would literally still be scrapping by and in the same situation with less money in his pocket.
