I heard that Tupac was going to reference HBGOAT in a rap during a studio performance, but he was murdered before it could happen.

Pac was literally thinking of a line to rhyme with "Michaels" when he was rat a tat tatted :ehh:

Little known fact about Tupac: he was supposed to be the first celebrity member of the nWo. Scott and I were in Atlanta for a Turner meeting in the spring of 96, and we randomly bumped into him, Suge, and I think Tupac's family at a Steakhouse down there. Scott and I are big Pac fans, but we never knew that Pac and Suge a) knew us and b) were fans. We chopped it up for a few and said we should hang out the next time we're on the West Coast, which happened to be when we were promoting the PPV in Vegas. The real reason that Tupac created the Makavali alias was to prepare himself for his WCW debut in there but unfortunately everything came to a halt after the Tyson fight.

So were pretending that HBK didnt have better challengers for the title than Hart? And the rise of Stone Cold was a big part of the numbers going up too. Yes Shawn was champ at the time but he had a lot more to work with as the WWE was lost at sea during and after the steroid trial. Hell even before it, they had difficulty making Hogan and Flair a marquee house show match. Business was weird at the times and Bret and to a lesser degree Shawn were victims of that.

"Men lie, women lie, numbers don't" - yes, they do. You can make numbers support any argument. If you're talking about one specific metric, you could say anybody did better than anybody. Apparently, Shawn did better house show business than Bret and Diesel. However, ratings were in the dump during Shawn's first title run and nobody can deny the company was losing money until mid-97. Even in Shawn's book he talks about the stress and pressure of being "the man" while the company was doing horribly

Ratings went way up after he won the title and HBK had nobody to work with like Bret did. Nash, Hall and Bret were all gone when he was champ so his numbers were really good considering the roster at the time he was champ.

HBK worked with Nash before he went out and he also had Mick and Vader to work with and Sid who was more over than Shawn. :beli:

Lemme selectively use numbers to support another point:
avg. PPV buys per champ, the "big 5" only (RR, WM, KOTR, SummerSlam, Survivor Series)

source
jtbeO0d.png

Bret's first run: avg buys 326k (250+300+430)
Yokozuna title run: avg buys 259k (245+250+180+200+420)
Bret #2: avg 246k
Diesel: 209k
Bret #3: 275k
Shawn #1: 184k (197+157+199)
Sid: 244k
Undertaker: 206k
Bret #5: 250k

So if you do the numbers, Shawn had the lowest PPV rate of the 90's, lower than fukking Diesel :sas2:
And Shawn headlined the 3rd-lowest drawing PPV of the 90's - Summerslam96 (behind only KOTR95 and Survivor Series 95)
A house show sells 5-10k tickets at 25 bucks a piece
A PPV sold 180-500k PPV's at that same price or more
So which mattered more?

Never seen a group like The Kliq, that loves both trolling and reminding people of their collective L sheets. HBK's 2nd run would've been GOAT status, but Cena was there and I'm pretty sure he was being punished for losing his smile.

NWO were great, but no creative activity after they peaked and they managed to turn it into the biggest L of all time (ruining a multi-million dollar company with blatant and perpetual fukkery). Tired of hearing about the collective Kliq, who drew double digit L's when a lot of you were still in diapers.
