Because he showed complete ineptitude at actually coaching; it's less about winning, and more about the direction, progress, and development, which was non-existent. Yes, he wasn't put in a position to succeed given the makeup of the squad, but his rotations, out-dated schemes, running the offense through Julius even after the wheels fell off, player-development, post-game comments, and the one and probably only area he has strength in [motivation], failed him.

I doubt he was fired for those reasons. Dolan and the Knicks FO havent shown any kind of affinity or even any kind of interest in the Xs and Os or any other nuance of coaching. They probably just didnt like him

Knicks have been the laughing stock of a franchise for two decades, other than couple of seasons when they made the playoffs with Melo and Amare.
