It's amazing how one conversation could change your whole perspective. Since hearing this episode I've walked toward my problems instead of away from them. I'm currently going through a rough time in my life where I don't know how things are going to end up but hearing Davids message made me welcome the shytty parts and deal with it till it's over. I've also been challenging myself physically daily. Different phrases from this podcast will pop up in my head from time to time. I listen to this podcast a lot. Sometimes I stop myself cause I don't want to play it out. Just use for when things get really bad.


People will be like I wish I had what he's got but if you listen to what he's saying, you do. Maybe you can't do what he's done but if you push you can do some incredible things yourself.

His instagram is cool if you're looking for more motivation. He has a book coming out in December. He also appeared in a book called "Living With a SEAL: 31 Days Training with the Toughest Man on the Planet"

Anytime someone is EVERYWHERE I instantly get skeptical, this guy is no different. There is a reason whites have been promoting him so heavy since 2015 from my research. He preaches a racism doesn't exist/"do for self" message that is extremely problematic in the grand scheme of American society.

I listened to chapter one of his book and it's clear his life was fukked up because his father was fukked up, because his father came from a line of those old school kinds of black men who were horrible people because they came from a lineage of people who also had rough lives. And you know why? Racism and white supremacy, which is always the root cause of black dysfunction.

Long story short: Goggins has a nice message but don't let that distract you from the fact white supremacy is the root cause why his life was fukked up to begin with.

i hear what youre saying, but when hasnt the media changed the narrative about black folks? theyve been doing that since the first newspaper went into press. weve always been shytted on in the media. its what they do. the only narrative that counts is ours

i saw a clip of david talking about kapernick and saying we should stand for the flag. i straight up disagree with that but it doesnt deter me from believing his message

the point matters is as long as whoever reads the book takes away the main message: shyts going to get hard, but get back up, callous your mind and plow through that shyt.

I paused at the fabric of his early unfolding and how it may have shaped some of his mentality, but I don't sense "agent" from the man. He's to rooted in himself to be a pawn like that. Even his alluding to direct white racism he experienced himself factors into his drive. The message is based in "do for self"... which isn't a "bootstrappism" nod. Alternatives to psychological centeredness for black men is a good thing, as we are familiar with general militancy, anti-establishment, etc. I'm an astute stoic...so I already navigate a path that fits a similar narrative. I get it tho.

He is right when he says f*** motivation, it’s easy to do work when you feel good and everything is great.

What really matters is the work being put in while in terrible spots in life “Drive is what I’ll achieve”
