If Randy Johnson didnt get that season :damn:
Yeah Johnson's injuries were a bytch.
But they probably didn't have the pitching to win even with that incredible offense.

A 33 year old Jamie Moyer was the only SP with a sub-4.60 ERA.

:damn:

You put that offense with a league average rotation and I gotta think they win 105 games EASILY.

Yeah, not to mention Moyer came mid season. That rotation was straight trash before they got Moyer, goddamn

Imagine if A-Rod stayed in Seattle...:jbhmm:
Even if Alex didn't get the mega contract that Texas gave him, he almost certainly would have gotten a large contract that would have made building a great overall team in Seattle impossible.

Maybe Seattle should have gambled and kept Alex and taken their chances.

They got REALLY lucky when they won 116 games the next year. Nobody thought Ichiro would be as good as he was.
And nobody expected Bret Boone to go from a .250 slap hitter to a 37 HR monster. Steroids are a hell of a thing.
Aaron Sele and Freddy Garcia had the best years of their careers (although to be fair, Garcia had the talent. Sele was a surprise).

By 2004, reality set in and the Mariners got really bad, really fast.
