Celtics Fan here, will be the first to say we Have NO chance of winning this. We may win 1 game at home, 50/50 chance we get swept. Good Job by Stevens winning 40 games. Got us to the Playoffs in the 2nd year. #GoCs

On March 3, Boston Celtics Brad Stevens could not have known what was in store for his team in mid-April.

That day, a Wednesday, Stevens' Celtics were in 11thplace in the East at 23-35. They were in Cleveland to play the Cavaliers, who at the moment were in fourth in the conference at 38-24.

So one could reasonably assume that Stevens felt free at that particular moment to discuss the Celtics' approach to defending LeBron James. It's not like the two would face each other in the playoffs, or anything.

"I would love for him to pass it to someone else," Stevens said. "Here's the deal. He can get wherever he wants to go with the ball, whether he starts it at 30 feet or whether he starts on the block. And with the guys they have on their team, especially since the trade, you can't over-help."

The Celtics had virtually no success defending James that night, as he poured in 27 points (on 12-of-23 shooting) and dished out five assists in a 110-79 rout. James played 25 minutes and sat the entire fourth quarter.

From then, though, Boston won 16 of its next 22 games to secure the seventh spot in the East, while the Cavs leapfrogged Chicago and Toronto to clinch the No. 2 seed. Thus, a first-round playoff series between Cleveland and Boston that starts at The Q this weekend.

Now, Stevens has to find a way to defend James. It didn't go so well this season.

The Celtics got rid of Rondo and Jeff Green and still made the playoffs:whew:
And Sullinger missed almost half of the season

How did they do that?:ohlawd:

This guy, Somehow this guy has THAT roster believing they can win. Granted they made the playoffs in the weak east BUT Danny and them were making tank moves all season and the team could've pull a Knicks/Sixers/Lakers and quit on the court but they didn't. We traded Rondo/Green/Brendan Wright/Marcus Thornton and now he has Luigi Datome, Tyler Zeller, Jonas Jerebko & Jae Crowder playing Starter minutes every night...

The four you mentioned are good players that didn't get opportunities to show it

I love Crowder, he's a much better basketball player than Jeff green

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
I'm excited for the rest of the country to get a peak into what this team has been doing the last 2 months of the season. This is a fun brand of basketball to watch and you'll see a coach do stuff in the 4th that no other coach in the league is doing right now. This guy will literally play anyone off his roster deep into the 4th of a tight game if he likes their effort, and players are responding to it, knowing that if they play hard and make the right reads they will get minutes, and minutes when it matters.

He'll throw out a 3 back court set with Evan Turner, Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley, then rotate in and out all of these 3's & 4's at the other two spots and you'll literally have no idea who is going to score on any given possession.

Now, the talent deficit is obvious as fukk....and they have no rim protectors and Jae Crowder is the only body on the roster with the size and quickness to even attempt to guard LeBron so I imagine he'll go for 50 in at least one game while they attempt the sweep. But still, at least one of those C's home games is going to be interesting late in the 4th.
