This. Tons of white people with good careers also voted for Trump. Its a false narrative to think that every one who voted Trump was some backwater hick in flyover country.

The truth of the matter is that this election was a referendum on economic AS WELL as identity politics. White people of all economic backgrounds have had every notion about race, religion, privilege, etc. challenged by the liberal left over the past decade. They really do collectively believe that they are losing the country.. Factor with a true sense of economic despair (that does permeate in successful middle class Whites too) then its clear why Trump won.
But Trump didn't over a single economic initiative. :jbhmm:

There is some truth to them losing jobs and shyt but don't let anyone try to deflect, primary reason was racism. Many educated and rich cacs went for Trump.

Trump's message was all about identity politics and racism and they got fukking energised and came out on election day. Simple as that.

All you had to do was to see his supporters throughout the campaign to get that perspective. :martin:

Nobody saying it was all hicks, but the statistics don't lie, Trump had a historically poor showing amongst college educated voters. He lost postgraduate ( masters or higher) voters by the biggest margin ever by a republican nominee. He also lost the overall college educated vote by numbers that hasn't been seen since Reagan vs Mondale. When it comes to non college educated voters, Trump won those voters by the biggest margin since Reagan vs Mondale. The narrative is correct, Trump supporters are overwhelmingly low educated, low information voters. Just have to let the uneducated have their day.

At the END of day Americans on both sides of the political spectrum where tired of the media and tired of the status quo.

Both parties had outsiders run in the primaries who the establishment did not want to see win. Americans wanted to pick a outsider. The difference is that Trump bodied his competition and legit got the nomination to the chagrin of the republicans. Bernie got screwed out of having a fair shot by the DNC and Hillary was thrust upon everyone. fukk Trump. But fukk Hillary too. The dems caused.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

insecurities, frustrations I understand. But the irrationality of electing Trump I dont get. The man is a serial bankruptee, what are the chances of the country defaulting. And this fantasy of republicans/pence controlling him when all evidence indicates that they're just pr flacks that paper over his incendiary comments. What is the difference between Pence and Kellyanne, other than he's allowed to speak in front of large crowds.

This whole thing doesn't make sense. Brexit is slightly more understandable, years of xenophobia from right wing media and politicians had become accepted wisdom, referendum had little specifics meaning people were voting for different reasons including an unpopular pm. But this, the man's children will manage his businesses and have security clearances. His interests will clearly lie with his businesses, a fact that he has shown time and again on the campaign.

Brexit was a fantasy vote leave you'll get your hearts desire, but everybody knows what your getting with Trump...where does the white working class go from here?
What am I missing here :mindblown:

This was put in play long before trump. repubs have lobbied think tanks, media outlets, and institutions that have blamed everyone else for their disenfranchisement outside of the real culprits.

Trump IS GOING to give these crackers jobs.

Prison stocks skyrocketed.

New prisons will be built in small towns. Who do you think is going to build them?

Who do you think is going to be controlling the nikkas they put in those prisons?

So are you going to negate that point or not?

Prison jobs produced and prison revenue are marginally insignificant on a percentage level. Google economic empowerment zones and how big business hates it. That's a great start

Small town Mayberry aint on nobodys radar.

Sad how they dont acknowledge Reagan And how he royally fukked up thier America.

Exactly. Reagan took away their small farms their small steel mills their small factories and gave it to the corporations who then took those out of the country to Asia and Latin America
