And the Owen tournament is being done because AEW is owned by a wrestling nerd who was a big fan of Owen Hart and he got Owen's widow's permission to do it.
So the need to shyt upon it seems pretty damn weird considering the WWE HoF thread comes every year without much criticism in it about how they tend to induct people who didn't have shyt to do with Vince or his company.

Neither was said on TV the tourney hasnt even started officially but the cup being called "The Owen" was either on a site or the press release

I'ma be real I can't remember one thing about the Owen/Bret match but the finish. I remember it was a good match that's it.

I bet tons of wrestlers steal shyts they see from previous matches/generations, and we don't even notice cuz we never saw it or remember it.

I watched the FTR match, spots were okay in context of what they were doing, and if you a super mark that knows where they are from, I guess you get bonus easter eggs.

This is one instance where it's totally fine to do inside nods that only internet marks will get.
