considering how many rappers have gotten their shyt pushed in for using uncleared samples, rockstar isn't any better. if they put his music on their album w/o his consent, he's owed way more than 4k and hope he takes them to the cleaners on it.

last of us just used a map some guy made in their game w/o his consent and he got paid way more than 4k

If I was a artist id be happy to just have my song heard but I know how hiphop is more about the money not the music.

But I do think they low balled him like a motherfuer
Gtfoh, just happy to be featured? It was used in a product that was sold for commercial gain. It's not like he is suing some kid on the street who used his song in an arts project.

Also, he does own part of the publishing for both songs. They asked him, he said no, they used it anyway. He has every right to sue.

And even if 4k is the standard they used for all the songs, he didn't give them permission to use it.

I said this in The Booth but Daz is only the producer on one song and only a feature (as part of Dogg Pound) on the other. There's no way in hell he owns the (full) rights for those songs. He's just trying to get a piece of that Rockstar billion.

You wouldn't just be happy if you sold all the records he's sold and had all of his experience in the music industry.

:mjpls:

Do you know how many people own the FULL rights to songs that they didn't have a single contribution to?

I'm not even saying he does have it, just that contribution can be misleading.

I'm sure Rockstar didn't just add in songs without getting them cleared thru labels.

Daz probably doesnt own those masters and it went over his head.

Yeah. Although I think Daz should get paid more, I'm sure rockstar got proper clearance for it. Why would they risk it for 2 songs from daz dilinger?
