Why do these dudes never make classics on thier own then?

Why after Dre left Death Row most of they shyt was trash then?

Dog food was dope but is nowhere near as dope as the chronic or Doggy style.

I don't buy Daz's and Suge's constant duck tales.

probably because 9 times outta 10 by the time they ready to do their own thing, the great work they had to offer already been used by that nikka :francis:

dr. dre been able play leap frog and bounce and work with the next producer(s) to the next, so he never really falls off because there's always someone new in the fold and picture who's work is bein' used :skip:

I doubt they were all daz, none of his stuff post Deathrow sounded that good

The same argument could be made for almost every producer who worked at Death Row during that period. Think about it, back then they had multi-million dollar studios for free with pretty much unlimited time with access to some of the best recording engineers, mixing engineers, musicians, etc. (you name it) to assist them and contribute to their ideas. What's Daz working with now? Probably some computer program...not to mention he doesn't even get his projects professionally mixed and mastered. Put him in a similar situation as before at any label and I have no doubt in my mind that he could drop another Dogg Food or RR&GB.

How come Daz couldn't make the Doggfather a classic like he did with Doggy style :skip:

That's simple my dude.

Small time beatmaker access to "others people music" i.e. albums was limited. So lets say Daz before Dre has access to 3 krates of albums from different genres to make his beats. He can make a great beat, but he doesn't have access to the equipment to give him highs and lows subtle drops, fade in/out nor anything close to putting an 8 track layer.

Dr. Dre has access to everything because of universal, he has access to a library of albums and the latest tech to stitch together his beat with the highest production value.

Daz, is now in the studio with Dre and Dre shows him a few things on the boards, and he has access to a library of albums from all genres. He carefully listen to an album samples an interplotation and does that with several albums, stitches a raw beat, but he doesn't know how to master the beat.

Dre comes along checks out his progress and smooth out the rough edges and gets production credit.

Once those cats leave the music factory, they no longer have access to certain things and they don't have the cat who didn't show you everything, he showed you just enough.

naw but they was hungry before dre left

daz didn't produced all of tha doggfather. him and pooh and a couple of other muthafukkas

like most mcs, usually their 1st album or 2 is their best. same could be argued for most producers. that's not always the case but for the most part it is

the remix was produced by laylaw :sas1:

The Real Story Behind 2Pac & Dr. Dre's "California Love (Remix)"
“I went on and played some music for him,” began ‘Law as he recalled his reunion with Dr. Dre in the mid-‘90s. “He heard a beat that he wanted, and it was the ‘California Love (Remix)’ beat. He was officially working on The Chronic 2 way back then. And that song was supposed to have been for his album. … So Dre did the song, a couple days later Roger [Troutman] come out [and] get on it. … A couple days later, ‘Pac hear it [and] ‘Pac get on it. A couple days later now it’s ‘Pac’s single. The very next day they wanna shoot the video. So within a week of us doing it, it became ‘Pac’s single.”

“So I’m like, ‘Alright, what’chu gonna do with my version? ‘Cause we have two versions of the song,’” he continued. “[Dre] said, ‘Your version’s the remix.’ I did it with my partner at the time, [D’Maq]. … [Dr. Dre] told me that he sent the credits into Suge [Knight] and Suge fukked it up. I called Suge. Suge said, ‘Dre never gave me the credits, ‘Law.’ … Mind you, Suge ain’t really worrying about putting my name on shyt. So I get in touch with Tupac, and ‘Pac telling me he trying to leave [Death Row Records], he just wanna finish these extra albums and he wanna leave. So, we just kicked back and just let [the situation] marinate.”

Laylaw Discusses His History With Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Ghost-Producing "California Love (Remix)"

read some more of that interview, Laylaw is one of those "oh i always get fukked over in this industry. i did this beat & that beat and magically they got stolen by Dre or got taken off Tupac's album." he even says that 100 Miles & Runnin was an Above The Law beat that Dre took, 100 Miles & Runnin doesn't sound anything like an ATL beat. he made this
which isn't on the level of California Love or any other song he claimed he made. people always say Dre "stole" shyt from them and stole the credit but when you look at their other work it doesn't match up.

well, dre was around above the law when n.w.a. was workin' on 100 miles and runnin' as well as nikkaz4life

hutch and them had been comin' up with that g funk sound and dre was able to capitalize off of it before above the law did

above the law = the creators of g funk

dre helped those guys out but above the law (big hutch) bought that g funk shyt to hip hop

you can't compare a track from 1993 to a track from 1996. different times and things change/d. people try different sounds and styles

if laylaw would've still be comin' with a song that sounded like strictly 4 my nikkaz in 96' he would've been :flabbynsick:

kokane spoke on how much dr. dre bit off him and above the law. even down to gettin' the aftermath name from them :skip:

why am i not surprised? :martin:

man, dre had too many cooks in the kitchen for him to be greatest then. he's always had a co producer with him. 1st it was yella, then it was daz, then it was sam sneed, bud'da, mel-man, scott storch, mahogany, focus, hi-tek, mark baston etc etc etc

dre's lane is the mixin'. but when it come to beats, it's other nikkas doin' the beats and he just comin' in and cleanin' them up :francis:

and while dr. dre might be a producer in the traditional sense, in hip hop, a producer means the nikka who makes the beats :wtb:

this makes me think back to when suge was interviewed by rolling stone and he was sayin' daz was the one doin' the beats for doggystyle :ohhh:
