Kyle Chandler’s and Aaron Pierre’s salary probably took up 80% of the budget

You can tell this will be another Wonder Man, where the superpowers are barely used until the final episode/last two because there’s no money to do it throughout.

They’ll LIE and hide behind “we took inspiration from True Detective and detective shows so it needed to be grounded” as if they couldn’t do that WITH F/X and only aren’t and have to do it this way because there’s NO MONEY

My thing is, why do Green Lantern, a character who is F/X heavy if you don’t have the budget to do it properly?

According to one of the show directors (James Hawes), Lanterns will have space/intergalactic elements (see my post above).

My guess is that the show will shift from Earth to space in the second half of the season. It's confirmed that Sinestro will appear in the show, so there's no way that the season will be entirely on Earth. They'll be suited up in their GL outfits before the last episode lol.

Yeah I think this is just going to be closer to a Supernatural episode than the space cops people were expecting.

The aliens aren’t going to be GOTG style with brightly colored backgrounds. Sinestro is a purple dude walking around in a field.

I never really got into Green Lantern but this idea of Hal as a kind of lapsed Lantern who lost his faith but is still going through the motions reluctantly training John as his replacement interests me as a character piece. Especially as it seems like the type of role Kyle Chandler could knock out the park.

There's not a storyline like this in the books, is there?

Green Lantern comics during the early 1990s (before he turned into Parallax) explored this concept.
