Nothing he did can justify this behaviour. Postpartum depression also doesn’t justify this behaviour. And even if she was postpartum, if she was unstable to this extent, then the baby shouldn’t be around her until she sorts herself out.
My first kid’s mother had depression for years and it had a severe impact on him. She wasn’t unstable, but it rendered her unproductive and created some other bad situations for her as well. So even if she has a legit mental illness, and even if we sympathize with her, the best thing for that baby is probably to be with someone else. Is that person DDG? Who knows. But if she’s this unstable, regardless of the reason, then the safety of that baby should be held in the highest regard.
That said, this looks like your typical emotional immature crashout. This reaction to him cheating (if that’s what happened) probably wasn’t the first time she crashed out like this. When my kid’s mother crashed out after we broke up not long after the baby was born, she had an epic crash out, dragged me into court for nothing, which resulted in her child support payments getting reduced and years later led to her house arrest for committing fraud (by not properly reporting her income/child support for years as she was on disability). However, the court stuff wasn’t her first crash out. Not even close. We had a relationship full of crash outs and my ass was stupid enough to get her pregnant anyway.
That is to say, both these mfers are just being young and dumb and immature. Hopefully the baby can find a stable environment to grow up in.
