De La Soul's career is one of the most unfortunate turnouts in hip-hop. They're really GIANTS in hip-hop. I'm ignorant to a lot of their music; but their influence, praise, and fanbase is waaaay bigger than the average fan would think.
The record will be corrected now that their music is easily accessible like everyone else’s and serious students can go back and connect some dots they didn’t know was missing from their knowledge base

They are pillars respected on the highest of levels across the board by everyone that was around during their run

I was watching one of these recent docs done on them and it started with something to the effect of “it’s impossible to overstate the influence of De La Soul in hip hop culture” and it was right

I consider myself a Hip-Hop head to the fullest...I use to waste a lot of time chopping it up with older heads about this shyt n getting put on....in high school I could spit I Aint No Joke without skipping a beat; I Doubt any1 else even knew who Rakim was LMAO :russ:

ATCQ 1 of my favorite groups of all time. But for whatever reason I just never got into De La Soul. That song Stakes Is High I use to bump heavy tho. Excited they're on streaming; I got my homework 2 do.

By who? :dahell:

De La has one of the best live shows in hip hop. No one wants to get on stage with them. Plus they'll shut down the venue bringing Monie, Tip, etc out to perform Buddy.

No one was beating them.

I agree, and Not sure why I can't use any smiles, but it's in one of those verzuz threads, cats were trippin on Dela hard, saying they only matched up against Tribe. Tribe getting cats out there too real talk. Sales doesn't not always equal fanbase.

All things considered that’s not a lot :scusthov:

$62,000 in a week isn't a lot?:gucci:

That's 3.2 million in a year just from old music with no work required from a group that's been around since 1989.

Of course those numbers won't stay that high but if they consistently do a fraction of that it's around 6 figures for everyone.

But I guess if streams stays consistent it’s acceptable :manny:
Unfortunately, artists get paid peanuts for streaming. Also, eing in a group is one of the worst things you can do money wise. Look at how much the individual members of Wu Tang got paid for their albums.
