I just skimmed this thread and I have decided that this thread is stupid.


As a nikka that doesn't date black women exclusively I will say that the only black women I've met like this are ratchet. I've dated white, latina, and yes, Asian women with the same unsupportive, try to emasculate a man type qualities. Some chicks just ain't shyt...has nothing to do with race.

I am not down with self-hate.

I understand exactly what you're saying and you have a great point. However, my thing is we should frown down on ignorant behavior by every race and not single out only black people. For instance, if a thread is made with a black dude doing something stupid, you'll get replies from black people saying "black people ain't shyt" "Black people need to do better" etc. Do you realize that white people have the same comments when they see this content? If we keep acting as if the actions of some black folks speak for all then we are just going backwards because there will ALWAYS be ignorant people of every race.
So do me this favor, next time you see a video of a ratchet chick or dude who is black, simply call that person rachet with no mention of their race. Don't go on a diatribe about how "nikka's ain't shyt" or "this is why people look down on us". I'm not saying you do this but for those who do, try not to for once.

I think you missed the point my dude. A nikka that revels in the thug lifestyle is he not a thug? What society has managed to do is get us to accept and embrace every negative elements of its system as our culture and identity. While the white man excuses his evil they have somehow convinced us to revel in ours while at the same time demonising that same act. Don't you find something wrong with that image. They give the most ignorant of rappers multi million dollar deal to portray this image all while demonising his actions at the same damn time. Why is it chastising the ignorant portions of our culture is viewed as being a sell out or a uncle tom? Why is athleticism the only thing that blacks are rewarded for?

Whites call it rednecks and categorize it that way, Blacks call it ghetto, but the issue comes when you do not conform to that ghetto image you are viewed as non black or cornball brother like you have said in the past by other blacks bc somewhere ghetto became synonymous with being black. That's the mentality that I wanna fight.

Yes and I agree with you on that first premise. We call it hood/ghetto etc and white people call it redneck/trailerpark trash. My only issue is when entire segments get stereotyped and it becomes "black women ain't shyt" instead of "Tonya Johnson who happens to be black ain't shyt" There is a difference.

don't know about you but my mom was born in the early 50's. her personality, attitude, world view does not reflect that of many black women born in the 80s, 90s, etc. and it's not like you were raised by those women either.
