I went to school prior to the advent of twitter.
This new age world of twitter journalism counters everything we were taught in school.
This doubling down on sources validating other sources comes off as "race to be first journalism" and wanting to be a part of the narrative rather than standard journalism.
It sucks
I think this is what happens when you have like 3 or so people who REALLY break news. The rest piggyback, unfortunately. Or speculate and hope its truth.
You went to Mizzou? J-School as well?
And I agree, although in this day and age it isn't bad to just confirm a report and preface it with, "sources confirm ..." I don't really see what's wrong with that, as long as credit is given.
I was at the J-School before they upgraded the hell out of the on campus facilities...I might've went online or print sequence if it would've been super fly back then
but as a young-in I was a little more pre-occupied with ass than my future...ended up going into broadcasting because the chicks were better![]()
Missouri is the best at it.
