HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I actually have very strong opinions about Deadspin and the "hipster" movement, which has come to encompass something different and far more sinister than it initially did, when it was just silly and corny.
@Walt and @HHR pretty much already said everything I wanted to say.
But since we are discussing ESPN, I'd like to point out that I'm tired of Jay Bilas and his crusade against the NCAA for profiting off of players when he continues to work for a company that does the same thing. When you run a commercial saying "See Heisman trophy winner Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M take on (insert team here), you are using the student athlete to increase views and profit.
But that's part of their job, and ESPN has no say in the amateur status of college athletes. They're paid by the NCAA to promote and broadcast college sports. It's not even close to the same thing. The only way to remedy that problem is not to show college sports on television.
No....they could advertise by just using the teams, not individual players. Bilas is dead set against profiting off of these kids that don't get paid.
So when they're broadcasting the games, do you want the PBP guy to refer to Manziel as "number 2" all the time too?
No. You are missing the point. They can broadcast the games as normal, but when it comes to advertising don't advertise it as "johnny manziel.......and the aggies". Just say tune in to watch The Aggies in action vs. The Florida Gators. When they advertise like that they are using the student athlete to generate dollars. I'm not saying I have a problem with it, but apparently Jay Bilas does and he looks like a hypocrite by continuing to work there.
Bilas has no control over that.
Besides, if you don't want Bilas working there, then you can't then get upset at ESPN for having a bunch of shills doing what they need to do to cover shyt up or go with what the company wants.
