You dont need school if you have some type of experience, get some freelance experience and get a cert, and you can atleast get a support jobCan anyone here tell me how to get into IT. I asked the guys that work here but they just tell me to get certified or something. Anyway if anyone has the time, I've been doing security for like three years make 12.00 and just sit on my butt most of the work day. I wanna just fix peoples computers and all that stuff. You just apply at places and tell them you passed some Microsoft test on your own? IT people here said you don't need school really.
Cool cool how do you go about getting freelance work? What about learning all the stuff? I can go to school for it but what's the subject called? Is it better to go to one of those fast track scam colleges(itt) or go to a community college? You dont need school if you have some type of experience, get some freelance experience and get a cert, and you can atleast get a support job
First you want to figure out what you want to do in IT. If you just want to fix computers, then start by building your own computer from scratch, so that you can become familliar with the parts. Then you can pick up a self study book for whichever cert you want A+,Net+ Sec+. As far as school goes, I wouldn't recommend majoring in something like information technology, it too general and is not going to teach you much other than how to get a help desk/ pc tech job, you can do that without school. If you are going to go to school try to have an idea which path you want to go first, then pick the best school for that field.Cool cool how do you go about getting freelance work?
