Finally finished the entire series earlier today. Shyt was fukking amazing. It was like a time machine in some ways taking back to that early 90s era with alot of the footage and recollections of what Pac was experiencing at the time.

Seeing these elders give their perspectives on life and recount their experiences reminded me so much of the times I was blessed to spend back in the day building with elders connected in the Philadelphia activist community through my dad. I wish my pops was still alive, he would have loved this series and he knew and was close to some of Pac's extended family. He knew Afeni and was real close with Geronimo Ji Jaga (Pac's godfather).

The entire series was great but the first 3 episodes were amazing, particularly Panther Power. I love the fact that most of the attention of this series when it delved into Pac was about Tupac BEFORE Death Row.

It's strange. It's almost become cool to hate 2pac these days. We're seeing the results of the winners writing history. No one who was close to 2pac has any power and is either in jail (Suge), dead (Afeni), irrelevant (Outlaws) or they're just neutral and cool with 2pac's enemies (Snoop/Dre).

Meanwhile, Biggie has Puff, Jay-Z and everyone in the media in NY keeping his legacy alive.

This is exactly why alot of his fans go rapid for him because theres nobody out there thats really repping for him. Everyday you have CACs(Vlad, Tablitha Soren) dusty nikka(Clark Kent, TK Kirkland) or clout chasing faggits(Wack100) disrespecting him publicly and theres really nobody pushing back.

This is why many within his base as rapid as they are go bat for his legacy because theres no strong figures holding him down

Amazing series and to think it was put together by a man who Tupac physically assaulted. You figured it would be a hit piece and done to ruin Tupac's legacy but it's actually an amazing project.

Shout out to Allen Hughes for forgiving Pac and blessing the culture with this.

I finished watching episode 2 earlier today but my god, it was such a moving and emotional episode, i really didn't even know what to say. :mjcry:

first off, his mom story alone is a earth shattering one. my god, .that woman went through hell and back!

when you really look at under the microscope of Pac's upbringing and rise, you understand more and more about the complexity of him as a man.

his album "Me Against The World" was such an appropiate album title for him, because it really was him against the world at times.

Classic album episode.

Allen Hughes did an outstanding job with this.

Just finished episode 4 and bout to watch episode 5 now

Man, Allen Hughes made a classic with this.

The way he goes back and forth between Afeni and Pac’s story and the parallels is astonishing!

This is one of the best docs I’ve seen in a very long time.

Every single episode has been compelling and eye opening even after already thinking I knew a lot about Pac.

This doc doesn’t just scratch the surface, it goes beyond the surface.

Finally got around to watching yesterday. Amazing doc. My favorite part is adding background and displaying how the government purposely broke down all the ex-Panthers. It added more depth to how she ended up on drugs. Also breaks down the reasons for Pac's anger and paranoia and where he gets his fight from.
Also adds to my love/hate relationship with Pac. Some of his problems were self-made. He didn't heed the warnings about fukking with Haitian Jack which started the domino effect of Pac feeling setup and abandoned. Coming out of prison was his chance to reset but he was broke and needed that money due to all the people he was taking care of.
It reminds me of that Tyson quote about fire. How if it's controlled it can be used to heat the house and cook a meal. But if it's not controlled it can burn the whole house down. Suge was the gas to the fire that took all that fire in Pac and amplified it. NOBODY could control Pac as was yet Suge seemed to not only not want to control him but encourage him to wild out more.
Pac was so brilliant and I just hate that the same anger that drove him ultimately lead to his demise as he was saying so much shyt that needed to be heard by the masses.

The only blessing is, the man and his message is forever immortalised now
