So we get fleeced, Lakers upgrade for basically nothing, and Utah gets our future for Mitchell?
If we give up the picks and bad contracts at least they can build with the young players they still have. The picks that we give up will affect our flexibility when certain contracts are about to expire. They have to also think about trade pacakages down the line.
I wonder what a trade just between the Knicks and Lakers would look like? What could we move and get back in Westbrook / Randle trade?
I don't see why they can't do something like Randle and Rose (plus some players from Jazz) to LA
Knicks get Mitchell
Jazz get 3 conditional picks, 2 first round picks, and Fournier, plus picks from the Lakers so we don't have to give up as much (maybe 1 pf thier young players so we can keep ours).
It helps all the teams involved Lakers gets some vets, and rid of Westbrook. Rose gets a shot at a ring.
Knicks get thier guy, and can use their young guys still on roster to build the team, since they won't have many useful picks.
Jazz can officially tank increasing thier chances for the #1 pick, and can build through the draft. And can release Westbrook if they don't want him.
I don't want Mitchell that bad. He doesn't make us a contender just buy himself. I think the roster as is would be better than the roster we have if we traded for him.
