People getting released is whatever, can't claim budget cuts when constantly talking about record gates/merch sales though. Must suck for people to get released between Rumble/WM season when that is also the video game season, but also gotta think your days are numbered if you are off TV and not being used in the lead up and after Rumble on any show. There must be some tax thing to cut people with length on contract versus letting the contract run out, because they have to pay out the remaining of the contract to cut them anyway. Independent contractor things.

There is no sense in keeping someone on the roster that isn’t generating revenue, that’s what they mean by budget cuts. These people are being paid but they aren’t selling merch or moving the needle. You can’t keep people on the roster for too long just because they have potential or a fat ass lol. It’s business trim the fat and KIM some of these people were on their second chances and still didn’t work out. All these wrestlers have to stop taking it personal and just hit the indies and rebrand yourself, get a following and in a few years they will be happy to bring you back.

Of course no one is going to care about Blair Davenport who shows up once then disappears or Vinci who comes to back to job twice to a jobber then also disappears off television. Reality is that for these wrestlers, its not that they're not moving dollars, it is that top brass has nothing for them or are not interested which means they're on death row till either their contract expires or cuts need to be made.

I know Blair and Isla's release was a shock down in NXT. They have a stacked women's division down there and while most of the ladies are solid wrestlers, reality is that some of them will end up being just like those two.

Malakai’s contract expired so there wouldn’t be a non-compete.

Non-competes aren’t part of AEW contracts so any non-competes would be unique for each release.
