Yeah, not a DeBarge fan, personally, but MTV had been out for 4 years by the time Rhythm of the Night dropped so the fault lies with the label for not pushing them.

Hell, they got more promotion when El guest starred on Facts of Life....

one of the greatest and most overlooked songs in R&B history...the rhythm guitar riffs literally make me cry...produced (and played) by the legenday guitarist Al McKay, after he left Earth Wind & Fire...i always imagined him staying with the group and Philip Bailey singing this (no disrepect to Finis Henderson) with Verdine playing the bassline and Maurice on drums...but it wasnt meant to be
