Back when you had to be found in church and prove you could lay down those vocals

I know why :mjpls:

one word: THOTS

Thots started making thier presence known around the early 2000's when she had her last hit......ciara...rihanna ..beyonce started laying the foundation for the "independent bad bish" mentality that has led us to the jhene aiko's...kehani's ....and all the rapping byatches like nikki minaj cardi b and young ma that has basically made SOUL MUSIC ...IRRELEVENT.....

the record industry took note and started not only slashing the budgets for these "WOMEN OF SOUL" but decided to not to sign them at all...so many of them got regulated to the "graveyard of black music" which is NEO SOUL which is like the backpack subgenre of urban music.

Women like Deborah Cox and Tamia are seen as "weak" by the modern women.....today's women see Blac Chyna and the love and hip hop byatches as the prototype they seek to follow...

yeah it's sad :mjcry:........ seeing a "lady" these days especially in the field of entertainment is like seeing a RARE SPECIES from an ancient time period....

Yep, back in the day, those women would be in pornos or groupies. They washed out the classy lady and let renegade hoes think that they got it.

Lookwise I always put her above Tamia. As far as music goes I don't really care for either one.
