Above the fray.
@ViShawn

Good intent.
My take on countering stereotypes is that they must be presented on the same platforms that are promoting them, at the same time. Open letters to reporters/outlets THE SAME DAY/news cycle. So that the same people who were exposed to lies, get exposed to the counter.
Video circulating among Black men doesn't have the same effect. Those of us who are adults know what the realities, that the worst segments and behavior in our communities do exist, but do not define us as individuals.

Also, this is the wrong subforum to present this info. Majority of members here being Black men who have grown up in a world where stereotypes about Black men are promoted 24/7. Despite that, members here frequently stereotype Black men from different regions and ethnic groups. And mods allow it here, and participate in it themselves.
TLR is consistently inconsistent in this regard. People repeat slogans and mantras as they see fit, but there is a deep underlying tone of self hatred and low self esteem here.

I should have posted it on The Root come to think, but I wanted this to get more traction.
We do need media outlets and yes put pressure on reporters, etc.

This forum loves to promote Black pathology, so this is a welcomed thread, friend.

We need respectable media platforms that will promote it.

Women read, that’s why they can pump out think pieces about anything

I thought about starting an informative Instagram and then going further with it. To an actual site
