Hip Hop is Dead, God Son and Stillmatic all came out during this week in different years.

I still remember it was the last week before winter break of my first year in college when the joint dropped. This was when I was still messing with CDs and buying. I HAD to pick it up before going back home. Remember hearing Ether on the radio and Nas doing the promo stops (Flex, Westwood) and hearing One Mic and You're the Man and knowing this dude had a fukking special record. Everyone at uni who was into Hip-Hop was behind the guy even before Ether and this validated.
I even remember SOHH feeling it heavy and being glad he finally dropped the dope they were waiting on.

lol, I remember those days I would just go to the mom and pop local store that had CDs out 5 days before regular retail and buying it.

Kinda went nuts that day and brought Stillmatic, Wu's Iron Flag, Jay's Unplugged, Mobb Deep's Infamy, Ruff Ryders 4, Mystikal's joint, Nate Dogg's, The How High Soundtrack, Busta' Genesis, Luda's Word of Mouth . De La's AOI and throwing them shyts into the big CD folder I had on the way back home the next day.

Stillmatic got the most play and deep into 2002 as well. Pretty much listened to it straight for like 3 years after its release, heavy heavy.

Shout out to anyone who copped the early edition that had Everybody's Crazy, the other version of No Idea's Original and Bravehart party. That must be rarity now.

And shout out to anyone who had the Got Yourself maxi single with Black Zombies and Doo Rags on their a whole 9 months before it was on Lost Tapes.

"Blood of a slave.... Heart of a king" :ahh:

I remember ppl arguin on the basketball court about stillmatic vs blueprint since they came out within months of each other. Poor camel tried so hard to make a classic only for Nasir to crush the buildings a month later :to:
