A shift isn’t happening. He’s just using this for content lol.

If Carti can drop and do 300K with a trash album then there is no shift lol
Not a really good comparison. Carti hadn't dropped in 5 years and fans were teased for years with leaks, got pump faked on a date and set the internet on fire when they didn't get it, then got it weeks later. No way he was doing less than 300 with a 4-5 year build. What the C3 hype was to Wayne, IAM was to Carti. Then the shyt came out....he's most likely never seeing 300k again

The Wayne stuff is different. He's a legacy act and nobody's expecting another C2/3 but people are coming down heavy. People've swapped out the Peanuts 2 n Elephant beat for something else and it sounds like another Wayne track lyrically. Never seen this many people say he's not saying anything, he sounds like he always has to me so something's different he's getting rejected

Carter five had a lot of songs where he actually had substance. This album doesn’t really have any substance in my opinion.

What in God’s name do you want from guys 25 years into their career?

Rap is in a very peculiar place
How far in is Nas? His last albums have been fire, how far in was hov when he dropped 4:44?. The album is trash breh. That's all there is to it. Lloyd banks even been in the game 2 decades and his last project was fire. Wayne dropped a dud

All subjective.

There were like two songs from 4:44 I’d actually play now and if I wanted to listen to Nas I’m not playing any of those albums he’s put out since God’s son. The sky isn’t falling because a legacy act put out a bad album

This nikka lame. There is no shift, at this point of his career Wayne is just desperately in need of an executive producer to give his work some direction, he has a terrible ear for beats and song structure.

The shift is that labels cannot keep pushing legacy artists that broke out when selling music was profitable. They will have to invest in new artists

"A Shift is happening" but two of the biggest albums of the year are the Carti and Drake albums. What are we talking about. Can we get back to talking about rap like rap, instead of talking about rap like politics? This idea that Kendrick winning the beef and having a massive album proves that the good guys are in control now is insane. The music dictates all. If Wayne dropped a dope album despite showing zero growth guess what...people would fukk with it. Instead he dropped a bad album and people are clowning it.
The drake x party album is categorized as rnb

I can’t stand this crab ass attention whore ass nikka.
I don't see it as attention seeking to speak the truth about this trash era that hip-hop is in, it should be more people willing to call a spade a spade about this era in hip-hop. If I had a podcast or a platform I would be calling this trash out and pointing out the old heads and young cats still creating dope music and not the same repackaged content like Wayne.
