Truth is, most of our parents, like most people in general, are pretty screwed up and won't really support your goals or vision. It's just that since the foundation, we've been told we have some unbreakable allegiance with them. Truth is, a lot of kids would be better off not really listening to their parents after 14 or 15. Just focus on building yourself up.
