Jermaine Dupri hit it on the head. The people who are in these labels are not making the music or into it hard. It's not necessarily about race, it's about people making or being into the music that they push. The race is just what comes along with it but, just having blacks run def jam because they are black it means nothing. In fact that's the first way that others can take over a business because it's not backed by anything.

what can be done to change this?

well, a good start would be having all the over 40s rappers acting like kids trying to stay relevant by bullshyting on vladtv etc to grow up and try to take control of the culture, the 30s rappers should stop worrying more about their street cred which lends them in jails and start preparing for a better future..rappers under 30 should revisit their history, respect the job done by elders and try to improve the community as a whole.

its never gon happen coz the community as a whole supports distructive behaviour..those that make uplifting music never sell records compared to those that rap about black on black violence n drugs.

No disrespect but none of that matters in the entertainment field. What matters is the older artists need to want to not get some quick cash, and be the center of attention. The reason why you don't see them in these executive positions is because they don't know the business, or they want to still be the star. Or the people who run the labels won't give them a position to be able to be an executive. Uplifting music is good but that has nothing to do with blacks owning their own labels.
