So, what we hear on the radio now can be attributed to the following releases below. These albums, by these new school artists, will go down as the classics that defined this period; years from now. Please feel free to add on. These are the albums that helped shape the sound of what we hear, the images of rappers that we see, etc..

Also, don't post your favorite rapper just because your a fan (J Cole/Wale). You have to look at the impact. fukk, there are even some releases on this list that I don't fukk with, but I have to respect what they did to the game......

I wanted to list these new school classics because I have a cousin who is out the loop of for this age of rap, and I wanted to introduce him to these classics that set the tone for what we have now.

These are in no order:

Kid Cudi- Man on the Moon: The End of Day
Waka Flocka- Flockaveli
Kendrick Lamar- Good Kid, M.A.A.D City
Drake- Take Care
Drake- So Far Gone (Original mixtape)
Future- Not sure whether to include one of his mixtapes or album
Wiz Khalifa- Kush and OJ

To the folks who said, delete Future and Drake off the list, you can't be serious.... Everything on the radio damn near sounds like a Drake or Future song... Half of the new acts out are offsprings of these guys...

Again, this list isn't based on what your a fan of...

yeah this is objectivity.

they don't have any classic, popularity doesn't make an album classic. are recovery & Encore 2 classic albums ? no.

I wanted to include Rocky because I see the influence he's had and his sound is being mocked a little.. Just didn't think people on here would see that... I tried to keep everything as non subjective as possible...

J Cole is dope... But for having a solid project that can be defined as a classic, I was on the fence about.. I can respect that though

You're delusional.... Comparing Encore and Recovery..... REALLY???

Popularity doesn't mask classic, but influence sure does.... Last I checked everyone has a Drake/Future influence song in the mainstream world.

still, drake best album will always be seen as a 7.5 or 8/10 at the very best.
