Hows White on defense?

I have always pegged him to be an all around player :yeshrug: his defense isnt amazing but can definitely grow.

And hes already played better in pretty much every pre season game than patty mills sooo:russ:

We will be a lot less athletic on the wings due to the injuries but Forbes and White will be able to provide better shooting at the backup guard spots. This may work out for this year better than having DJ be the lead PG for the team.

Hows White on defense?

Not bad...but he is no Dejounte...but then again Dejounte if you look at advanced defensive stats is quite arguably the single greatest second year defensive player in the history of basketball...he played a lot of minutes last year with parker, forbes, and mills...all atrocious...and those lineups STILL graded out as above average to elite on defense...Dejounte actually became an all defenisve player a year faster than Kawhi AND Dejounte didn't have an all time great policing the lane like Kawhi did with Duncan...

On the other hand...White's offensive game is on another planet from Murray's...he played well when he got nba minutes last year...he SLAUGHTERED the g league in route to the championship...if you saw him in summer league you know it was a no contest, he was putting up 20 by halftime...teams were just going to load up on Demar and LMA and then dare Murray to beat them with a jumper...you can't do that now cause white will...

Really the whole offense changes now...he is a MUCH more aggressive offensive player and won't hesitate to shoot from anywhere if you go over a screen...

White will be fine overall...I'm more worried about Forbes and Mills who are complete turnstiles and are prone to have bad shooting nights...

All of a sudden it looks like Lonnie is going to get some real minutes to...whenever he comes back :francis:

I see they already cut blossomgame which means they are probably in the market for another guard now

I HATE this injury. Why has it been so prevelent in the last 25 years or so? Like when magic and bird played, you rarely heard about torn ACL' outside of Danny Manning and Ron Harper.
old heads didnt play NEAR as much basketball as these kids. Between HS, summer leagues, streetball, AAU AND college these guys are putting alot of stress on their frames before they're grown. sure this shyt was around, but it wasnt really a "requirement" like it is now

I don't remember any ACLs in the early 2000s NBA. This is definitely a new injury in the NBA. 15-20 years ago this was just a football injury.

I have no idea why ACL injuries are now prevelant in the NBA.

Early 2000s NBA had more athletes than today and there were no ACLs back then.
No. The league is a lot younger and more athletic now than it was in the early 00’s.

I think the injury is more prevalent now because kids play more basketball growing up. School, hectic AAU travel schedules, playing with friends outside and street ball tourneys, NCAA, practice, then NBA. Also, players cover more ground now on the defensive end because of spacing and on offense dudes are more shifty with the euros and hop steps.

"The game is becoming so athletic and so explosive that you're putting so much stress and such a pounding on there," Shumpert said. "You gut guys Euro-stepping around people. You're contorting your body in so many different ways now with the new-age game that I could see like the ACL's are going like that.

"It used to be people just ran straight lines in basketball," Shumpert said. "You watch Bob Cousy and them, they're running straight lines. Now you've got all these crossovers, you've got Euro-steps, you've got guys like James Harden scooping the ball and making their body scoop low before it comes up. We're putting different type of stress on our bodies."
