Championships aside, his booking was always been suspect

They never made you feel like he was a real threat to Cena, he lost multiple times to edge and christian for the title which made him look like a goof, they took away his gimmick for no reason, his cross armbreaker wasnt protected against the bigger stars, when he was a babyface they put him in a program with super patriotic zeb knowing damn well majority of the audience are on their :mjpls:and they wondered why he couldnt get over as a babyface :snoop:

Him not going over Edge was really the beginning of the end for Del Rio.

They had a chance to really cement him as a top level heel by having him beat Edge in an important WrestleMania match, then build him on SmackDown throughout the summer of 2011. What happens instead? He loses in the opening match, Edge retires, Christian beats him at the next PPV (the right decision at the time), then, instead of feuding with Christian over the belt and getting heat for being the guy that beat Edge's best friend, he's shoved out of the way for Orton's 10 millionth title reign.

Awful missed opportunity. Then they compound it by having him beat CM Punk for the belt at SummerSlam and contribute to putting the breaks on his megapush. :snoop: Followed by a feud with Sheamus that was so awful it killed both guys as top level stars. :snoop: Followed by an utter botch of a face turn, then a heel turn that did absolutely nothing for him. :snoop:

Now that I really look at it, as dull as the guy could be, WWE really fukked up some golden opportunities to help Del Rio out. No wonder he wanted to go back to Mexico by 2012.

PWMania.com reported that WWE did not use Alberto Del Rio’s real name when announcing his release from the company this evening. It’s also interesting that they did not wish him the best in his future endeavors.

For what it’s worth, Rob Feinstein of RF Video wrote on his Facebook that Del Rio was involved in a backstage incident at the recent WWE TV tapings. RF claimed that Del Rio had words with an employee who works for WWE’s social media department and allegedly slapped him. This should be taken as strictly rumor for now.

PWMania.com reported how Del Rio has expressed interest in leaving WWE and returning to Mexico once his deal expired this year.

:laff: at Del Rio (allegedly) slapping people.

Maybe his gimmick would have been more effective in the 80's. He along with Dibiase and their two "servants" could have made for good tv

If they made him more of a JBL/DiBiase hybrid it might have worked. Throwing his money around to make things go in his favor and also asking people for their papers :lolbron:

I'd say make Mizzle his lackey and call Miz The Petit Bourgeoise but that's too clever

Alberto Del Rio-Wade Barrett main event tag team, with Miz as the mid-card lackey that takes pins. :ohhh:

Instant mega-heat. :wow:

...and yes, "Petit Bourgeoisie" is a bit too high concept for WWE, even though I'd find it hilarious.

(Seriously, I'm shocked that WWE found the time to mock OWS, but never took the single greatest heat drawing concept from it. Probably because it hit too close to home for the McMahons?)

He wont miss WWE but I don't see the E' missing him at all at this point. His good matches will be replaced by other people having them (they have that kinda talent in their current roster) and he wasn't generating anything heat wise. He wasn't putting people over (hell, considering his role in the company he was still getting kinda protected) and he was so damaged that even if they used him for that, I don't think there was much value in that either.

Who are all these regulars generating heat...Wyatt gets cheered, Steph doesn't wrestle, Cripple H doesn't wrestle, Rollins is barely shown these days, everyone here acts like Miz is getting Conway reactions. Who are these magically over heels next to Lana?

Fair point with all of the damage. They dropped the ball with him the year he curtain jerked mania and lost to edge. Then again on his feud with Ziggler turning him back heel. Hopefully e does a tour of Japan
