Not sure how often you interact with contractors or ppl in the trades, but half the time you're lucky if they even show up for estimates. I recently got ghosted by a cement guy when I wanted to hire him for some work after he gave me the best estimate. They don't appear to be hurting for work far as i can see

You may have a point. The people managing property for corporate owned housing likely use the "name" plumbing services in the metro areas.
Mom and Pop owners likelier to use independent tradesmen to save on cost.


May lead to fewer people to branch out and form their own companies, but that just means they will work for the larger companies. They will be employed, just not self employed.
