Is it me or do the movie makers know ahead of time things we don't?

Movies take at least 2 years to shoot and come out.

How did they know there would be total anarchy this upcoming election?

If you remember, in one of the movies, you hear a woman talking about the benefits of the purge. Things such as low poverty and unemployment but also less violence, and I honestly will not be surprised if in a few years the purge becomes a thing.

Side note : Those movies are amazing, I can't wait for the next one.

The purge films, on average, took only a few months to film. The first one was shot really quickly. They also have low production costs but make millions. This franchise is genius, although played out.
