Dem Franchise Boyz rapper Parlae has taken aim at Fat Joe over claims that the group “jacked” his music without permission.
Earlier this week, Joey Crack commented on artists interpolating his own hits into their songs, singling out Dem Franchise Boyz for their track “Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It” and Young Dro’s “Shoulder Lean,” both of which bear similarities to Terror Squad’s “Lean Back.”
After catching wind of his comments, Parlae hit back at the Bronx rap legend in a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday (November 22).
“I just seen a clip of Fat Joe’s interview talking about n-ggas biting his music and taking his style and he’s gonna sue n-ggas,” he said.
“I’m from the South, n-gga — we don’t bite New York n-ggas. We didn’t hear ‘Lean Back’ and say we gonna make a song like that. N-gga, we said ‘lean’ not ‘lean back.'”
He added: “How the fukk we bit your lyrics, n-gga? If you feel like that, get your muthafukking sue on, n-gga! I ain’t bite no muthafukking Fat Joe.”
Parlae also threw shade at D4L’s Fabo in the caption, as the two have previously gone back and forth over who created snap music.
“1st it was @iamfabo now it’s @fatjoe [facepalm emoji],” he wrote. “Which 1 of yall was responsible for LEAN WIT IT, I Forgot [thinking emoji] I Guess when you use the same word as a person and your song become a hit, you got the idea from them [shrug emoji].”
Fat Joe made the initial comments during an Instagram Live, where he said: “If you use somebody’s music and you sample it and you don’t clear it and you don’t give them no money, they can sue you.
“Me, personally, I have never sued nobody for that. And trust me, they done had ‘Make it rain, make it, make it, make it rain.’ Or ‘Lean wit it, rock wit it.’ My shyt’s been jacked legendary. ‘Shoooulder leeean.’ My shyt been jacked!”
