And it kickstarted the start of his ending.
Arguably the best big in the league at the time…a lock for the full max that he could only get with his incumbent team.
They traded him and he lost 50ms off the rip and could never recoup. Then blows his Achilles before he could sign the lower max with New Orleans
Somehow can’t feel like things would have been different had the Kings just let him sign that max…
But then again he was a dikkhead so he brought a lot of that bad will on himself

The thing is The nba has the lowest standards arguably of the 3 sports for retiring numbers.
