I don't think you'll find that drug laws in African nations are too lenient. :heh:

If your opinion is that all drugs should be legal, that's fine. But "20 years for some drugs *incredulous face* " is a pretty big understatement of what his mom was actually convicted on.

Oh? Where in Africa does a person serve 20 years in prison for coke?

My opinion isn't that drugs should be legal but that nobody should spend 20 years in prison for it.

Asian and ME countries are worse. They'll sentence your ass to death if you get caught with drugs.

So some cacs, Asians and Arabs have demonic laws. Nice to know but it doesn't mean those laws are right or that that anybody serves 20 years in African prison for coke. There is no reason Thomas' mom have served 20 years for selling coke.

Those same drugs that destroy countless families and lives
In Malaysia it's a death sentence
I don't think 20 years is too harsh if parole is an option

That's cool, Malaysia is a totalitarian Muslim state so who cares what Malaysia does. Drugs no more destroy countless families or lives than alcohol does.Drugs are legalized in Portugal and parts of Europe, there aren't a legion of destroyed families and lives.

South Africa doesn't encompass all or even most African nations. Also it's not clear South Africans the minimum mandatory sentencing for drugs. Do you have evidence they do?

Well, you said they were selling to "willing buyers" which comes off as an argument for legalizing drugs in general. :ehh:

No, it comes off as I said it, which is that one shouldn't spend 20 years in prison for coke.

So. Cal
No doubt, but you don't think the punishment was a bit severe considering the already unequal sentencing minorities get in this country for shyt period?

the sentence made no sense unless she had priors. What state was this in?

If you had read the link, you would know that they do.

Two forms of control that limit the discretion of trial courts are available . . . The second is a statutory mandatory minimum sentencing regime applicable to certain serious offenses including murder, rape, drug dealing, firearms smuggling, and human trafficking for sexual purpose.

The issue is ultimately not whether South Africa is representative of most African nations. It's whether long drug sentences are "cac laws." I just gave you a black majority country that has min-mands for drugs. So . . .

I'm sorry but she's still saying she wouldn't have taken the deal??

Her mother was going to prison for life anyway, as everyone else in the family operation took deals. She missed her son's whole life and deprived him of a mother out of some silly loyalty to her mother, who already lived her life and made her choices, was already going away anyway, and who told her to take the deal.

Meh. I see why Demaryius is cold toward her. I'm still glad she's out though.
