Yikes. That kind of thinking is dangerous because history shows that "the will of the people" isn't always just. If leaders always bent to majority pressure, then segregation would have lasted longer, marriage equality wouldn't exist, and many civil rights wouldn't have been protected. A politician's job isn't just to follow the loudest voices, but to uphold justice and protect marginalized people, even when it's unpopular.
