That’s why I would be fine if Jon Stewart decided to save us. Checks off the outsider box. He’s witty enough to think on his feet and being a comedian he would be likeable too. Has a good moral compass and should be able to appeal to all parts left of center (for the most part).

Whoever wins has to basically check a shyt ton of boxes and some of the top basically has to be appealing and looks the part to get the dummies that will be looking for any excuse to vote against their best interest (again).

The Democratic Party chose to shift center-right to appease wealthy donors and compete with the GOP, and that decision has haunted us ever since. Before Bill Clinton, this wasn’t a problem. But ever since his embrace of neoliberalism, Democrats have steadily lost lower-income voters to Republicans—not just poor white voters, but increasingly poor Black voters too. We sold out working-class communities to curry favor with elites and billionaires, chasing PAC money and backroom deals. That greed? It’s come back to bite us hard.
