First of all neither I nor @Pressure brought up US billionaires, @Loose did, so you’re asking us to defeat a strawman he constructed on his own.

The entire argument is built on a strawman argument that China shouldn't be allowed to have any TikTok in the US because of us hegemony, when the actual argument is due to lack of united states technical advancements. The idea that TIkTok is much more destructive because its ccp adjacent than twitter or Facebook at this point is a laughable assertion.

100% accurate. In fact—Twitter, IG, Facebook are UNDOUBTEDLY worse for society as a whole. We’ve had anti-Chinese propaganda shoved down our throats our entire lives. Modern China is an impressive country.

Regardless he hasn’t made a case why China is more worthy of a social media company in America than American billionaires, he’s only saying if billionaires have them why can’t China?

His logic makes no sense because we both agree that billionaires owning social media companies are a problem, China being part of the mix can only make the problem worse.

Is that his logic or are you being uncharitable becasue you don't like his politics. I can easily read through his post here and come to the conclusion that he thinks both are bad and both lead to worse outcomes for Americns His critique seems to be if "our" social media is going to exist and lead to the same outcomes than banning TikTok speicficially and allowing the other platforms to continue as they are is stupid. @Loose is that your arguement? Am I close?

Lawmakers from both parties argue that TikTok poses a national security risk, fearing that the Chinese government could access Americans’ personal data or manipulate content on the platform.

Do you think these risks are unfounded?

You all can’t control billionaires until the fundamental rules and laws behind how American politics changes, in which case they’ve already bought all of them & the Supreme Court. You don’t see Chinese billionaires acting up do you

I think the days of me hearing phrases like US interest and national security risk and just assuming the Agencies saying these things are doing so with the best intentions are over. I don't know what to tell you. I'm deeply cynical about things at the moment so hearing what you quoted doesn't move me much.
