i usually do not care about this shyt at all but plainly - no

the idea of "anyone should be able to die in service to this country should they choose to volunteer" sounds nice but in reality we need people that can do the job mentally and physically. if your team is penciled for 5 soldiers all carrying combat loads and meant to be training together, one of those individuals taking significant time out of the year for all the care that transgender care demands objectively breaks cohesion while also making the others pick up their slack. on top of that you're asking folks with a clear mental health hurdle to take on demands of high stress in austere conditions too.

i say this as someone who drove a fellow soldier to their hormone therapy appointments while the rest of my squad had to learn how to do the job persistently shorthanded - its unfair to the transgender individual and the units carrying their weight. the staff officers in these interviews and far removed, promoted folks wrote checks that the average transgender soldier had zero chance of cashing. the anomalies are not the average.

the requirement is to be fit, available, and proficient - not to require more specialized treatment simply to exist within the formation for appearances.
