Prime Obama lol this ain't sports man. Your perspective of personality-driven politics is one of the biggest fissures between left-minded posters and centrist-minded posters. Centrist Libs are enamored with the spectacle of politics because they don't have any actual political philosophy or ideology or policy concerns. To y'all, political engagement is a personal branding exercise, the primary purpose being to signal your personality and virtue.
I disagree, my number one voting issue is the preservation of civil rights, I don’t need the government to do more for me, I just need it not oppress me.

Even if I grant what you’re saying though, that’s why lefties fail. The vast majority swing voters make their electoral decisions based on personality and vibes. They unfortunately don’t care too much about policy otherwise Trump wouldn’t have won either elections.

I would argue lefties don’t even care about policy as much as they vote for their internal moral compass. If they can feel “good” about voting for a candidate because it ticks off enough boxes and their consensus group think approves then the candidate with have their support. That’s how various lefties policies that’s unpopular with the general populace proliferates (defund the police, the policy involving sports that is censored from being talked about, anti capitalist sentiment which is antithetical to what Americans have been indoctrinated is possible in this country).

But to get to your actual post, politicians get elected depending on the situation and context of the time they're running in. 2008 was a fundamentally different time than 2016 which is a fundamentally different time than 2024. You can't just take his performance in 2008 and map it on to other elections. Hillary would have cakewalked 2008 and Obama probably would have lost in 2016 because the mood of the country was change due to 8 years of that Democratic Party's governance and Obama's failures. If we were to indulge your sports-style analysis, "Prime" Obama's victory was against a tomato can washed up scrub post-GWB McCain GOP. Obama's WAR is in actually probably hovering around 3.
Obama finished his second term with a 55% approval rating. He would have smoked Trump. I don’t think it’s worth either of our time to debate this. Trump ran as a xenophobe, minorities would come out for Obama in droves. Obama running again would also give never Trumpers the cover to support Obama openly because the status quo or the devil you know would have been preferable to Trump.

The guys political commentary is hilarious.

" let's picture 2008 obama before any baggage and age running today, do you think he can win in this hypothetical that would never exist? Let's also bring Florida Iowa Ohio etc back to 2008!"

You’re not a democrat. Why do you care?
Oh ok.

So your contention is that the millions of immigrants living here pre-citizenship should have no ability to participate in civic and political life? All this time you've been pathetically following me around trying to call me MAGA, yet you've just been exposed for having same politics as Tom Homan and Matt Walsh? The retard doth protest too much, methinks.

Out of moral conviction I generally support the candidate least likely to continue America's neo-imperialistic foreign policy, and that is Trump in this election. I also believe Trump's domestic politics will at least attempt to halt the neoliberal evacuation of wealth from the underclass, which is disproportionately made up of black people. I believe Trump is the candidate who will most likely lead to domestic and foreign emancipation of black people.

@Outlaw have fun with him today my guy :mjlol:

:heh: Leftists/Progressives feel good about a candidate because that candidate ticks off policy boxes. Which is why damn near anyone - from a young latina bartender in NYC to a former marine oyster farmer in Maine to a septuagenarian Harvard Law professor to an old hippie ex-Mayor from Vermont to a 34 year old muslim ex-rapper in New York - is welcomed by the progressive movement, as long as they display commitment to the progressive political agenda. What you're calling "consensus group think" is just ideological commitment to a moral and political philosophy. This differs from the power aesthetics and vibe-based "adult in the room" approach the centrists and Libs have. Which is why that one brainless idiot in here keeps going on about Gavin Newsom's physical attractiveness or why you were (are?) pushing The Rock.

Name names. :comeon:
Ball harder and you’ll join their ranks. Until then you’ll continue to be that guy at the end of the bench on a two way contract waving the towel, left to resort to climbing in my mentions daily like a scorned lover undeserving of a worthwhile reply yet ever desperate for my attention and love.
