Hakeems very strong in his district, not really primary candidate. People like richie torres and Goldman should be primaried. Besides that as much as I think Hakeem is a corporatist he does keep his caucus in order which is a positive.
Even if the challenge fails, he should be primaried out of principle. He's presiding over one of the most listless, directionless, feckless Democratic House caucuses in recent memory. He's a shythawk and should be kicked out in the same wave as Schumer. New blood is needed. The ghost of Eric Cantor is calling him.

I agree he should be challenged i just don't think it's a winnable race. Maybe a challenge will cause him to look at politics different. Nys and Cali arguably has the worst democrats across the board

Oh these nikkas are dirty. Chuy Garcia got his seat the same way. His predessor Gutierrez pulled the same bullshyt, pretending to run before dropping out at the last minute with Garcia being the only option left. How you run the same hustle twice then act innocent when people call you out on it :heh:

Even in the great game of Chicago politics, where backroom deals are a way of life, Gutiérrez’s move managed to stun and surprise the Democratic establishment. In one fell swoop, the veteran congressman managed to upend the city’s congressional delegation, remake the 2019 mayoral race and set off a domino effect on local offices.

“This is clearly a game of musical chairs by the insiders, orchestrated from the top,” said Bob Fioretti, a former alderman who ran for mayor against Emanuel and is now running for county board president.

Before most up-and-coming elected officials could even examine their own prospects for Gutiérrez’s seat, it was already too late. By the time news broke that the congressman was on his way out, he had already handpicked and endorsed Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia to succeed him.
Garcia, who nearly knocked off Emanuel in the 2015 mayoral runoff, had been viewed as the most prominent possible challenger to Emanuel in 2019.
A spokesman for the Emanuel campaign said the mayor had no knowledge of or involvement in Gutiérrez’s plans.

For his part, Gutiérrez had managed to limit what would have otherwise been a flood of candidates for his seat by acting as if he were running for reelection. As late as Monday, he was still filing nominating petitions for reelection. But on Tuesday, Gutiérrez withdrew those petitions, leaving just six days for anyone else to decide on a bid and collect enough signatures to appear on the ballot.

Zohran and AOC both discouraging primary challengers to Hakeem

Chi will probably end up backing off due to not having the backing of Mamdani (or any establishment democrat) along with Jeffries position as leader in the house, but Jeffries should be subject to primary as soon as it’s deemed politically viable.

Cowardly, Zionist shilling politician who only dared to show a backbone after he was humiliated by an AI video of him wearing a sombrero :scust:

Nothing says party in shambles like trying to toss leadership in both chambers.

Jeffries getting his wake up call early in his leadership tenure means there is time for him to get his sh*t together. He's going to be the next speaker of the house so it makes political and practical sense to attempt to start propping him up for success.

Chuck on the other hand, is past his best if used by date. Midterms will be a good time to install a new minority leader since R's will almost certainly still control the Senate.
