Thats still a losing argument. You have to reject the legitimacy of transgenderism in the first place because you end up having to defend whether or not being trans deserves special protections.

This argument assumes that anti-trans backlash is caused by overreach rather than existing bigotry being activated in response to any visible progress. That's the same tired logic people used to blame civil rights activists for "pushing too fast" or gay people for demanding marriage equality "too soon." It was nonsense then and it's nonsense now. What you're calling "goofy shyt" is just trans people asking to be treated like human beings, something that clearly offends you more than state-sanctioned discrimination ever could.
And you don't get to move the goalposts and claim to support "basic rights" while mocking people for asking not to be harassed, misgendered, banned from public life, or criminalized for existing. What the hell do you think "basic rights" are, if not the right to dignity, safety, and inclusion?
The real problem you people have, but are too cowardly too openly express, is that you're just more comfortable when trans people stay invisible. But how is that justice? It's not. It's conditional tolerance *at best*, and soft bigotry dressed up as pragmatism at worst.
The real problem isn't that the left asked for too much. It's that too many people -- like you -- think human rights are up for debate in the first place.
