putting money or helping people spend more money is major, this isn't just polictical theater, Joe actually did something that will help tons of us out there, my only issue is once you give people money you gotta continue on cuz once you stop they gonna look the other way so the dems may have to continue this evertime they get in power, they gotta spend and America is gonna be America.

I think Dems will kill the GOP in the mid terms, people under 45 won't forget this, they'll sign up hoping Joe does more like lower interest on cars or increase home grants or something like that.

It looks like on the order of 5-7 million. Black students are more likely to take out loans than white students, take out more loans on average, have more trouble paying them off than average, and are more likely to be under the $125,000 income cutoff than average. Nearly 1/4 of Black adults still have student loan debt, and their average debt burden is higher. Plus black borrowers are more likely to have Pell Grants, which doubles their debt erasure. So the move will definitely disproportionately help Black folk.



Personally I think it's a small move without a lot of long-term impact. It doesn't "solve" anything. But it helps Black people more than it helps White people and there's little downside.

That isn't something specific for black people.

They put the Black farmer bill in the Covid stimmy to the tune of $5 billion and it got blocked by conservatives in the courts. So they did a run-around in the Build Back Better bill and made it for "farmers who can show they've been discriminated against."

So long as conservatives control the courts that's the best you're going to get. Race-specific shyt is dead in the water no mater what happens until you get two conservative Supreme Court Justices out of the cut.
