On Election Day the polls were extremely close. 538 gave Clinton a 70% chance and Trump a 30% chance based on the final polls. I don't think some people realize how close that is. And Trump won by the tiniest margin - a different news cycle that weekend easily could have decided the thing.

I'm not saying that the polls show Trump will lose. We don't know yet. What they do show is that he's lost ground since 2016, so claiming he's a guaranteed win is just wrong.
