Not sure if you slighting Rodman or not.

Those opposing player field goal percentages tell what guys are really doing. When Rodman wasnt making them miss shots they had to give it up. He could guard 1-5 at only 6'7".

He did all the dirty work that dont show up on the stat sheet. He was the definition of a lockdown defender. We'll never see another Rodman.

Why not though? He was a great athlete with an incredible motor, very strong but there’s tons of guys like this in the NBA.

Is it because it’s not glamorous? Doing all the dirty work? Rodman did all that and was still a star fukking Pop bytches and supermodels

In this NBA, playing that style, would guarantee you 25-35 million dollars a year. Not everyone going to be a scorer, or a 3 point specialist but averaging 12-13 rebounds a game while playing lockdown defense 1-5 would make for a very impactful player in the league that we don’t have currently. I imagine there’s guys that can fill that role or was Rodman’s talent just that rare and unique?

It’s just surprising that we’ve never seen another player like him in the league. Absolute legend

Did anyone say Jokic should win DPOY?

Anyone with some knowledge of the game knows that stats don't show the entire picture, especially on defense. However you "forgot" that defensive rebounds are another stat that are always taken into account when discussing DPOY.

because this is a Jokic hate thread, this was @Po pimp 's response to Jokic's 31-21-22 game a few weeks ago:

He did this against Mason Plumlee and Nick Richards

I know it makes me sound like a hater, but this is a weak era for centers. Joker and Embiid are the only real centers of this era, and Embiid is hurt. Shaq dominated a weak era too in the 2000s, but Shaq was drafted in the 90s and played against Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Mourning. And even the centers that were weak, they were a legit 7ft. This era now is a bunch of PFs masquerading as centers.

When I pointed out who David Robinson scored 71 points against and who Shaq had his 60 point game against, @Po pimp decided to not respond.

Po Pimp refuses to go beyond the NBA in 2000.

Ben Wallace in his prime. Draymond this last decade

Ben Wallace was a beast but didnt have the mind control over players like Rodman had.

Now Draymond Green aint on the same planet as Rodman.

The fact that Draymond is a fake tough guy and very emotional that plays right into Rodmans hands.

Rodman would be waving and blowing Draymond kisses after Draymond gets 2 techs within the first 3 mins of the game. Draymond aint crazy enough to try to fight him either.

I mentioned in my original comment that Shaq played against weak competition at center once the old guard got old (late 90s-early 2000s), but Shaq was drafted in 1992, meaning he did have multiple all star caliber centers he played against for a good 7 seasons. Same applies to David Robinson since he debuted in 1989.

It’s not a Jokic hate thread. I only made this thread because when someone pointed out Joker being a bad defender someone mentioned him being second in steals. It means nothing. Iverson led the league in steals like 3-4 times and he was never a great defender. Rodman was an ELITE defender, but he didn’t get steals or blocks.

Above the fray.
Great individual defense is based on the ball moving away from the person you're defending, or your ball denial skills preventing him from getting the pass.

Ball denial is a lost art. Denial of desired post position is a lost art that doesnt mean as much in modern league.

24 second shot clock, upsettting the flow of the offense with great defense leads to wins. Might not show up in stats.

No brother, you specifically shytted on that performance because of who Jokic went against that night. It was hate. You need to realize its been 25 seasons since the 90s and the world has moved on. You can either continue watching the NBA and appreciating what you are seeing, or you can turn on your DVD and watch 97-98 Chicago Bulls games and pretend today isn't happening. Either way is fine, but being a hypocrite isn't.

this is without a doubt a Jokic hate thread. No one said Jokic was going to win DPOY. This thread didn't need to be made except to hate on Jokic since Dennis Rodman is the in HOF because of his all time defending.
