he had a melt down a few weeks ago..

& I still don't hear too much that gets me excited about Curry in the track 'Live This shyt.' People have been talking about Curry being hella raw since King Remembered, but I don't feel his music at all, it still needs a lot of refining. Besides Threatz (which is easily his most polished song to date), I still hear awkward flows accompanied with boring ass bars that are in desperate need of maturation; Curry presents lines and ideas that could be potentially good, but they sound like they're being delivered by a high schooler, both in his cadence and writing -- he needs broadening, enrichment in that sense.

On another note, this is what is hurting rap music today. The internet has enabled people to over hype young artists before they're actually capable of releasing a good, well thought out project. Instead of allowing artists to hone their talents and put proper thoughts into a project, people are always trying to place the 'got next' label on anyone that is remotely talented. As a result, rappers are forced to release mixtapes, which have become increasingly important in the industry, at a rate that hurts the overall quality of the music.

I ain't a hater of contemporary rap music, but people really need to step back and question a lot of the shyt going on in the rap industry in 2013.

listen to N64 if you havnt already.

i think curry was held back by recording his shyt home made but now he's in a proper studio so it should all be good but to what you said, i dont agree much, maybe you feel as curry is hit or miss? i dunno but he does his thing and his new project is looking to be a big one.

I hate that I'm sounding like a hater, but Curry still has so much work to do. His potential is all there, but the actual execution is still noticeably lacking -- he can flow, but you can still hear that he's trying to fully develop it, and he's talking about deep shyt like zimmerman/trayvon, but I don't ever really hear him spit deep bars, just sophomoric rage that doesn't really translate well into anything else.

He holds lots of promise as a young artist, and some of the hype is definitely warranted, but the clout he's gaining seems almost forced in a certain sense; like I mentioned before, people are excited to hail these dudes as being hella dope, but never bother to critique these dudes, which is proving to be detrimental to a lot of things in rap today. Most importantly though, because no one is willing to point out the flaws in these young MCs, these rappers are being rushed into the spotlight way before they're ready, and they're getting burnt out as a result. Luckily, for guys like Joey Bada$$ & Denzel AK Curry, they have a very distinct and marketable fanbase from which they should be able to find some moderate success.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that nostalgia 64 is gonna be OKAY, gonna appease his fanbase, but not much else. I'm hoping we see more development in Curry's style, but there's no way he's capable of actually meeting the hype surrounding his early career.

My problem is obviously with something much more than Curry, or even this thread. So my bad for kinda derailing, but I hope you get what I'm saying.:pachaha:
