Well back in 88 Denzel starred in a broadway play call checkmates which was produce by Harry-O the mastermind behind death row records and a week later harry-o got arrested on drug charges a year later denzel got his role in glory thanks to that role that was seen by the glory producers and writers. the play wasn't that good, but denzel and vanessa williams gave the play life.
