Ill scene, the ending of of 'Training Day', I never liked though..Fuqua did too much with the Russians spraying up his car and the bloody, over the top death, I felt it wasn't subtle or powerful enough, always wished there was a more fitting end.

Yup. I hate the ending too. Keeps it from being a classic in my eyes.

Took the words right out of my mouth. If this was a real hit he would have gotten two bullets in the back of his head a few days after, while he was walking out of a coffee shop or some shyt.

:dahell: It's a classic just from Denzel's performance alone.

He acted big, his wrongs were big, it was only fitting he died big.
I hated the ending cause I wanted him to get away but I can see why they went with such an extreme ending. Denzel's character was extreme

Wasn't as based in reality as a lot of the rest of the movie was, was very stylized and Hollywood. Esp. coming out of the car and that whole routine. If he had to get gunned down on the freeway, at least make it bleak and desperate, not like a Stallone movie. Beautiful shot of LA at night, from a freeway, smoking a cigarette, no soundtrack, no sound, then blood all over the windshield, something like that would have been much more powerful...then that "Tango & Cash' shyt they pulled.

Denzel was on one. What a lot of people don't know is Denzel improvised a lot of the lines from that scene. The King Kong shyt was improvised.

Yeah, here's the script http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/Training_Day.pdf

Read from 118. The original made me cringe. A lot of directors let Denzel do his thing, just like in American Gangster, a lot of it was changed too.

Btw, a lot of people make the mistake referring to it as SHOE program, rather it's SHU program, which is Solitary Housing Unit where you're in your cell for 23 hours a day.

then it wouldn't be "training day" it would be "training couple of days".

I can see it both ways, from a political perspective...I like the fact that a very crooked cop got his just due in a very violent fashion, but movie-wise...I can understand people wanting more nuance.

Having him get completely destroyed came off as a little bit moralizing (And, maybe that was the entire point).

If he had just taken two to the dome, the message may have fallen more in line with something akin to "you play with fire....". But that hail of bullets he caught wasn't ambiguous, we are lead to believe that Alonzo is being punished for his sins. Of course, this guy did stick a gun to his partners head and force him to smoke that wet....:pachaha:

I actually loved the ending. Dude beat a high ranking Russian mobster to death. They were probably gonna kill him even if he delivered the money. They riddled him with bullets like don't fukk with us.

couldn't have happened that way.. he needed to turn in the money by 12am or some shyt. he killed a russian mob guy. they wanted the money at 12.. not 1201.. shyt the whole town knew the hit was out on him, including him and the top 3 (wise men) of the city

so when time passed and this nikka is running out of town, probably the country.. and can do it easy cause he's a cop and also he's not wanted by any real authority... it was kill him right there or maybe never see him again.. plus you had to believe they'd be following him or tracking him somehow to even come out of the blue like that

SHU program nikka! Denzel went in. He sold the hell out of some wolf tickets in this scene.
You know when he said SHU program I thought he meant he was gonna have these cats making shoes in the joint. Then I remembered watching one of those Lockup shows they did at Pelican Bay, and it hit me.
