The elephant in the room is poverty. And a lot of societal factors also play a role in it.

Most kids want the best in life and with the Internet age where they can easily see what other kids their age have, compared to what they lack - it isn't shocking that a lot of them are depressed.

And if we were talking about grown women, then I'd agree, but a young girl in middle school having depression or low self esteem isn't something I would automatically say is their own fault.

I've worked with ppl with depression, PTSD, etc before, and they usually are that way for a reason. Sometimes it's from rape, abuse, abandonment, etc. My sister went through a deep depression when my dad died. This place hates black women but didn't know y'all hated black girls too.

The situation where someone is suffering from depression due to some traumatic event is substantially different than some girls that are simply depressed, because they are not in some in crowd. People that suffer depression caused by some traumatic event definitely need counseling and maybe even medication. I have dealt with folks like that myself. However, there are a whole group of other people walking around that are just self absorbed and they need a dose of reality.

Btw, just because someone tells the truth when it comes to Black women and Black men that does not mean that they hate Black women and Black men. Some people usually only speak up, because sometimes some shyt needs to be said.

You can't control someone's response to reality. AT BEST, you can influence it but even then, they have to agree with what it is they see.

Study doesn't sound accurate. How would they know about it if it is untreated? If they had volunteers, ofcourse people with depression or mood disorder are going to come for a free experiment/study to hopefully get treatment. People who are already getting it (usually mostly white people) probably wouldn't come bc there's no point. Not only that, but it is also trendy for people that age to claim they are depressed or have anxiety. So, it's not accurate at all.
