LOL
Jeter han't made any bad moves. they are broke, the former owner ran the team into the ground while lying about attendance.
He is hitting bottom quickly because thats the only way to rebuild.
to be honest though, its going to be a few years before they can do anything, and if I was him the main thing I would be looking at is to sell.

I was just in Miami, it's Paradise on Earth if paradise charged 25 bucks for a long island.

Who the hell would wanna watch baseball with all the other shyt to do around the city. :mjlol:

That stadium was piff though, one of best parks I've stood outside of. Shout out to the breezy working security who gave us some fire eat options too. :whew: even they security guards looking like JLo
At this point I’d just go to Marlins games for the eye candy. Super Cheap tickets, great culinary options and you can sit in the Clevelander and get hammered while watching the team lose but be surrounded by baddies:ahh:

Jeets is scared to go to the Bronx because Mike Stanton gone fukk him up
why? if anything stanton should give him a hug and buy him a beer for getting him off a poorly-ran team that wasn't serious about winning and sending him to one of the premier franchises in all of sports

The problem the Marlins and Rays have is simple, it's the same thing that killed the Expo's (who only made the playoffs one time in 35 years something a lot of people forget).

They have been patently horrible for the overwhelming majority of their existence. Yes, the Marlins won a couple WS, and they rode that momentum for a few years (and drew solid attendance #'s that saw steady growth). But Miami is like LA, they are a winners market, if you aren't winning they ain't want you. Add on that tacky, gaudy ass stadium that nobody in the city actually wanted that Loria conned the municipality into giving him and paying for and you've got your easy to understand answer.

The Marlins aren't moving, they have a lease that doesn't end for another 15 years in that stadium, they are stuck in Miami so even though the MLB should have NEVER sold to the group it sold too as they clearly and obviously did not have the money requisite to run the franchise, this is what they are stuck with and they have to make it work. And if they can build a winner in Miami they can bring in crowds. The stadium is gaudy as fukk, but it's actually a pretty nice place to catch a game.

The Rays? They're moving within 2-3 years, the Trop is falling apart and their ownership could give two fukks less about the Tampa market which has been evident for over a decade now with how they have treated the team and the fans they had. Though I would argue they are more likely to move to Nashville than to Montreal.

they completely dumped the roster and started from scratch

shyt they won the world series twice and did a roster reset immediately after

:mjlol:
they definitely had a fire sale after the 97 title...they kept most of the 03 championship team together and gave them a chance to defend their title in 04 and 05, even added an all-star in paul lo duca and a big bat in carlos delgado before deciding to hit the reset button

And the only reason they hit the reset button is because Loria didn't want to spend the money because his goal was never to build a sustainable brand, it was to make as much money as possible while building the value of the franchise as much as possible before cashing out, as he did.

the stadium is super nice, one of the nicest in all of baseball...they wouldn't have awarded them the all-star game last year if it wasn't. i selfishly hope they get sold and move out so the hurricanes can reclaim the venue.

yeah Loria was never in it for the long haul, his goal was to skimp and cut corners and conduct shady business and then sell high, which he did. he lucked into that world series championship if we're being honest. he's a crook and a con-artist (which makes sense since he made his fortune as an art dealer) who moves from city to city launching fraudulent operations and then skipping town when shyt hits the fan...fukking gypsy. the MLB put their foot on his neck in 2012 when the new park opened and told him he better start spending money, so he went on a fake ass spending spree on big name players only to jettison them a few months later. his lapdog david samson needs to be beaten and maimed too, smug cac would always be on media shows covering up for his stepfather's rogue operation.

Don’t know what you heard

It’s very popular among POC in FL, particularly our Hispanic brothers and sisters

Only an out of touch CaC that’s scared to talk to actual black and brown people would say this...

But they aint going to the games bruh.

The only year they've been top 5 in attendance was their 1st championship. Even when they won their 2nd joint the attendance was some bullshyt.

So they've put out some winners but even then the people dont give a shyt.

Marlins CEO Derek Jeter 'not going' to Yankees series in Bronx

Jeter: 'Awkward' to be in Bronx, will skip series

MIAMI -- The Miami Marlins opened a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night at Marlins Park. But it's their next series that has CEO Derek Jeter atypically off his game.

The Marlins are set play a quick two-game series against the Yankees, Jeter's former team, beginning Monday in the Bronx. Jeter says he will make the trip but will not attend either of the games, this despite being a fan-favorite over his illustrious 20-year career donning pinstripes.

"I went to a spring training game when we played New York, but it would be an awkward situation for me to actually go to Yankee Stadium," Jeter said.

New Marlins CEO Derek Jeter dismissed any possibility of attending the Marlins two-game series against the Yankees which begins Monday in the Bronx. Steve Mitchell/USA Today Sports
The last time Jeter stepped foot in Yankee Stadium he was having his number retired and his plaque adorned in the stadium's famed Monument Park last May.

Jeter, who has always been economical with his words, was rather matter of fact when addressing his possible attendance.

"I'm just being honest with you guys, so that's why I'm not going," he said.

While many Yankees fans will lament the fact that their team's former captain will not be attending that series, Jeter has his own attendance issues to deal with -- as in the Marlins' fan attendance and lack there of at Marlins Park.

The team posted abysmal attendance numbers this week, averaging 6,556 fans in a three-game series with the New York Mets.

It was its lowest reported totals since 2006, and the lowest since moving to Marlins Park in 2012.

However, reported attendance numbers by the Marlins have been suspect for years. Many games had a noticeably lower number of fans in the stands than the official attendance reported.

Having a more accurate count is something the new ownership group, led by Jeter, seeks.

"One of the qualities of running a first-class organization is honesty, and we have been and we will continue to run this organization, we're going to be transparent and we're going to be honest about it," Jeter said. "And reporting paid attendance as the number of tickets sold is the way we're going to report it. Our focus will continue to be increasing the turnstile numbers here at Marlins Park."

Jeter is not happy with the low attendance numbers.

"We're going to report tickets sold as our paid attendance," he said. "I don't want to get into what was done in the past, but that's how we're going to do it here. We're not happy with it. We have to grow those numbers, but I think reporting it that way gives us an opportunity to show some growth over time."

The Marlins are last in the majors in attendance at 12,641 a game and have the second-worst record in baseball entering Friday at 3-9. This weekend's series with the Pirates could be another series of low attendance numbers.

"Our No. 1 focus is how we can win more games in this park, and winning more games is a part of it," Jeter said. "We have to win some more games. I've heard people say, 'Miami is a tough sports town.' I think that's every sports town. If you put a winning product on the field, then people will come. We have some exciting young players and hopefully we can get on a little streak starting tonight."

The Marlins have struggled with a cast of new faces after stars Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich, and Dee Gordon were dealt in the offseason when Jeter took over.

"I like the grit and the fight the team is showing," Jeter said. "We've been tied or had the lead in 10 of those 12 games. We're developing a winning culture here. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time, but I like how the guys are at least going about their business. No one is happy with the results. If you go in the clubhouse, they'll tell you the same thing, but it's a long season."
:dahell: When da fukk did Derek Jeter become the CEO of the Florida Marlins?

I mean the second one is easily explainable, after the first one they cut all the talent (and a lot of that talent went on to win more titles) and then promised not to do it if they contended again, that it was timing etc etc.

Then they did it again and the fans just flat out gave up.

Breh marlins stadium is a mile from downtown, a few miles from coconut grove, coral gables, the beach etc. if people were really sports fans in Miami they’d go to the games.
It’s at the point where I have friends who refuse to go out of principle and they love baseball. They don’t want to give ownership any money. One of my friends says he’ll only attend marlins games on the road :laughingphil:. Said he’d rather spend the money on his credit card to fly up here and rent a room this week to see them play the Yankees than drive to Miami to watch the game and then drive home :dead:. That team has built so much bad will with the fan base that it may take a decade or more of consistent effort and good decision making just to get fans somewhat willing to trust them. It’s a great park and all. I was there for a game the night the heat played game 7 against the Celtics so I got to see the cool stuff in there and how it’s kinda in the suburbs so people can walk from home to the stadium which would be a big plus for me since I’d have to sit on the 4 train for an hour to get to yankee stadium, but the fans don’t trust the organization. I wouldn’t either with how many times they’ve been burned the last 20 years.
